Totally in Tune with Myself, I Set You Free

I set you free from my journey,
Where you had the mandate call.
Here, the new phase begins
Guided by the invisible codes of my own grasp,
Neither to the paradise as a roaming soul;
 Nor to the burning fire or the poisonous fangs.

You gave me dreams, and you gave me hope
Preached by your Sons to  sustain me far.
Beyond the star studded superstitious tales,
I have awaken to the grounds of reality;
Where there isn’t any hope, dreams and need of sustenance,
To grow my own wings to fly by.

The ghosts may travel with me a bit longer,
Than you were allowed to.
Whenever they choke me, I will have your reminiscences
With the music of temple bells,
The fragrance of burning incense;
And the radiance of altar lights.

Here, when I bleed away from your omnipresence,
I realize, life is void and vain as it should be.
Totally in tune with myself, I set you free.
I melt my desire into intuition and ride it as my horse,
The road won’t end where I complete my journey,

From there another life will resume the journey.

Unlike You

Unlike You,
I foster deleterious pangs in my mind.
I tear up at the loss of my dreams
To toss and turn in sleepless nights,
In vain lamentation of the spilled milk.

Unlike You,
I sing in tune to the vehement gusts.
I bellow out the frustrations;
Before they could toss my sanity,
And cry them into eager chinwags.

Unlike You,
I bewitch the fate into my custody.
I avert unsolicited companies;
To eradicate futile matches of wave lengths
In malleable smiles and mawkish words.

Unlike You,
I brood on darker corners.
I regret the walk of perfidious;
To the extent to be inconspicuous
In a life treaded by them.

Unlike You,
I plot for callous carnage.
I lead a one man army for many
In tolerance with all my negativity;
To ensure our right to live the lives in peace.

Survivor

An ant climbed to my right thigh
While on bath.

Plumped in the bubbles of bathing herbs,
Out of the green patches of hibiscus shampoo,
Shaking antennas, it clinked onto my legs in vain.

Green residue and white dusts of my
Natural invigoration twirled into the drain.
The bath water whizzed under it
As a threatening whirlpool.

I tossed the black creeper down with
A mug of cold water.
It slided on the tiled floor in frantic search
For my legs.

I shook my drying hair at the little fighter,
In assurance of a soon dried up floor.
I walked out of the bathroom
All freshened and new when,
The ant waved its antennas at me,

Like the last survivor of Titanic.

Desert’s Rain in Winter

A whisper of rain

Dashed across my windowpane

With cold steps

Untying the brown clouds

To bare the furtive

Dark blanket

That brazed

With untold glum

On the Sandy day

Of the winter desert.

A Lady’s Sun Set in Saudia

Shining eyes behind the veils savor;
Golden globe behind the shining clouds.
Hidden behind the veils,
The spirits get  the fire.
The warmth and beauty reach out
After the veils.

The veil grows clear as,
Rays sparkle in through the clouds.
The veils flutters in slow rhythm,
As Scarlet cloudlets fly apart.
The veil grows darker,
The splendor plummets into safe horizon.

Prithviraj and Controversies

Continues from Where Did Prithviraj Stumble?

Prithviraj got into huge controversy after his marriage with. Media and public slammed against his decision to conduct the marriage in a secret way.

 It is true that marriage is each person’s private affair and public has no role in it. Moreover the actor had arranged a huge reception with invitations for media and public.

While creating this controversy, the actor in one way cheated his responsibility as a public figure. He lied in an interview with the media about his affair even a week before his marriage. He should have remained silent or avoided the question than being a lair.

After the marriage, Prithviraj’s wife Supriya’s comment about the lack of English fluency among other South Indian actors triggered the fire. More stones were thrown out for this comment.

Yet, there should not be any excuse for those who throw stones at his family for the mistakes of the actor. Other family members have stayed out of any controversy and so far able to maintain their public friendly image.

 Reaction
Prithviraj seems to continue unshaken with all these controversies around him. In the recent interviews he calls himself “arrogant,” showing as though that is the best title he can ever get. He continues to rant about things that might land him in controversy.

Here, I’m a common spectator who loves movies and admires the talent of actors. Prithviraj is definitely a good actor though not above all others in his period. There are many young talents including his brother who can do better works. I’ve a doubt-Is Prithviraj trying to boost his stardom through the image of a rebellious hero? Is it a new way of his marketing? Or is he simply can’t stay without attention even if it comes in a wrong way?

There is much in list for this young actor to improve. As a true fan of Malayalam movies, I wish that the actor will direct his attention towards fruitful areas than to controversies.  I appreciate the way he continues to act even after these controversies. Also, I should also quote a line from the movie, Fashion for him- There is only a thin line of difference between attitude and arrogance !

Flicker of a Firefly

 From the poem Flicker of a Firefly
It was our first night at Doha. Shreya was dripping into sleep. Owing to her complaint on not able to sleep, we switched off the light. In the air conditioned darkness of Grand Regency, I was cradling her to sleep, when a light flickered out.

At first I was concerned about Shreya’s sleep to notice, where the light had come from. She was deep in sleep when I looked up to see the source of light. It was a firefly! I had never expected any insects and upon that a firefly in that room.  Memories flooded and I was captured in the wave of nostalgia.

Fireflies were the common flying lights with which my muthassan had distracted me from my childhood tantrums. Many of my childhood friends were scared of the fireflies. They were told that fireflies would serve as the lantern for thieves in dark nights. I never heard this story until I reached school. By then, I had started to love those flying sparkles.

Once, my Achan had helped me to catch one of those fireflies.  I expected a crystal insect on my palm. To my surprise, they were not beautiful crystal insects but ash coloured insects with a pitiful expression.

They were so common that I barely noticed their beauty as I grew up. Yet in some dark nights, I used to see them flying in our yard. During the dark evenings of Kerala monsoon they seemed to evoke some kind of happiness in the otherwise gloomy air. Somehow, I remember the air they floated in blue grey shade. I still don’t know whether it was the creation of my mind, or it was a result of the beautiful blue flicker of the firefly.

Anyway, a firefly’s presence was something that I never expected in the Grand Regency of Doha. I had never thought of fireflies much but never hoped to see them in a desert and amidst a bustling city. Fireflies are always associated with calm, serene and silent household to me.

Sreejith came out from the bath and switched on the lights. The flood of light shut out the flicker of the firefly. Shreya was deep asleep. As I arranged my pillows and cushions, I looked around the room for the grey insect. It was nowhere to seen.

We switched off the lights and sleep forcibly closed my eyes. I never knew whether the flicker had started behind my closed eyelids.
